Historical Context

Living in the House imparts the feeling of being in the past.  The history of the house in detail is unknown but the presence of a vaulted cellar in the basement indicates the original structure was built by the Saxons during the prosperous years of  Maria Therese.  The upper part of  the house was probably rebuilt a 100 years later as it has a unique style reminiscent of  the architecture of the time.  Consequently the house stands proud on the street frontage distinguishing itself from it older neighbours

Sighisoara  Citadel is the last real living Citadel in the world.  The neighbours are traditional romanian and saxon families who have been living in the Cidadel for generations.

Up until the communist regime the house was owned and occupied by a prosperous Saxon architect.  After the war the family were driven out by the communists and the building housed a number of families for some time.

In the last 15 years the lived in by a clock maker (explains the numerous clocks on the walls) with his workshop being on the loft level.

The house has recently been restored in keeping as much as possible with the original character.
